Why is TAF COP Significance Essential?
Tafcop is crucial because it safeguards consumers from falling victim to fraud or misusing their identity. Several common types of fraud can occur through mobile connections, and Tafcop helps in identifying and preventing them:
- SIM swap fraud:
This occurs when someone acquires a duplicate SIM card with your number and utilizes it to gain access to your bank accounts, OTPs, or other confidential information. - Call forwarding fraud:
With Tafcop, you can detect unauthorized call forwarding, where your incoming calls are redirected to another number without your consent, resulting in unexpected charges. - International roaming fraud:
Tafcop’s portal is instrumental in detecting instances where someone activates international roaming on your number, potentially leading to costly overseas calls or data usage. - Fake KYC fraud:
Tafcop also assists in recognizing instances where others use your identity documents to obtain a mobile connection in your name for unlawful activities.
Using Tafcop, you can proactively monitor your mobile connections for any signs of these fraudulent activities and promptly report them to your service provider or the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
